Gleba terrae

A deep, natural black rooted in soil and ground — inspired by earth itself, where organic matter, shadow, and mineral depth meet. The colour reads as warm black rather than flat or inky, carrying undertones of dark brown, peat, and compacted earth. It feels dense, grounded, and quietly absorbing.

In Varv, this near-black gains dimension through the yarn’s pronounced texture. The sculptural twist breaks the surface, allowing subtle shifts of shadow and warmth to emerge as the yarn moves. Light settles into the folds rather than reflecting off them, giving the colour depth instead of contrast. It is a black shaped by nature, not by pigment alone.

Varv is a twist on our nutidenyarn - all is still 100% Swedish wool and Swedish made - but with a twist - a unique twist on spun and unseen yarn mixed into a very special yarn.

Notera/ please note :  

We take great pride in doing things by hand - so all blends will always be unique and will ALWAYS variate. 

Always hand-wash natural wool - always note that we do not use bleach or any other chemicals cleaning wool - therefore it will have natural materials in it - so the first rinse of water can be dirty (tip - use the water to water your plants - they will LOVE it! 

We only use certified pigments, salt and vinegar when dyeing
