Cladonia rangiferina

A pale, muted green inspired by reindeer lichen, a lichen species in the Cladonia genus. The colour sits between light sage, silvery moss, and winter-washed green, carrying a dry, airy quality rather than depth or saturation. It reflects the lichen’s natural tone — quiet, cool, and softly luminous.

In Varv, this light green is shaped by the yarn’s pronounced texture. The twisted, sculptural structure catches light unevenly, allowing the colour to appear lighter on the surface and deeper in the folds. Subtle variation within the wool adds a sense of movement, echoing the branching, layered form of the lichen itself.

Varv is a twist on our nutidenyarn - all is still 100% Swedish wool and Swedish made - but with a twist - a unique twist on spun and unseen yarn mixed into a very special yarn.

Notera/ please note :  

We take great pride in doing things by hand - so all blends will always be unique and will ALWAYS variate. 

Always hand-wash natural wool - always note that we do not use bleach or any other chemicals cleaning wool - therefore it will have natural materials in it - so the first rinse of water can be dirty (tip - use the water to water your plants - they will LOVE it! 

We only use certified pigments, salt and vinegar when dyeing
